About Chick's Nurseries Inc

Located at 8410 New Utrecht Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11214, Chick's Nurseries Inc operates as a plant nursery serving Brooklyn in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In Brooklyn, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in New York, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 9 am–6 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (718) 256-8336. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.5 out of 5 from 31 reviews, which is a strong result for a plant nursery in Brooklyn and suggests consistent service.

Brooklyn is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Brooklyn is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I was referred to Chicks by my next door neighbor. Chick is nothing but courteous professional and friendly. His company did a great job on my property that never saw a landscaper before. A+

It's definitely run down with a hoarder garage feel as you navigate the entrances to the two green houses. Some people in the reviews love the charm of it being run down and having "never changed", although crowded and messy, I see endless potential from a massive renovation/management switch. It has plants but the place can't breathe, terrible to navigate to either end and makes you want to leave sooner rather than later. Is it worth the feeling of the stone and wood floor crumbling underneath you... no. Demand more of your local store owners or if you live nearby volunteer to help them out. Overall with a massive face-lift and rebranding this place would thrive. For now, it's the local spot with flowers.

What an amazing place. They have a vast selection of plants - stuff you’d be hard pressed to find elsewhere. Tip: Be sure to look at both greenhouses. I got the most gorgeous plant on my last visit. The owners are very sweet and helpful and the overall vibe is super chill. I highly recommended!!

Amazing place! When I entered there, I couldn't believe that I'm still in Brooklyn. A lot of different plants, in different sizes and shapes. The staff is VERY kind and professional. I bought 2 plants and they explained how to care about them, what they like, etc. Also, they sell planters, so if you want to change regular plastic on glass, they will do it for you! Definitely will come back!
